I thought it would be interesting to post a rather under-spoken of topic concerning Danians. We all know that primarily, Danians are insectile creatures. We know this because of the 6 appendage insect rule, that is that insects have 6 "legs" which for Danians typically come in either 4 arms and two legs, or more commonly, 4 legs and two arms.

Now, what manages to slip through the cracks here is that there are a number of Danians who have upwards of 8 in combination, and depending on your definition of "limbs" upwards of 10! It is hard to tell unless you look for some, but several four armed Danians actually have a fully extended thorax like most others, meaning that they require 4 legs to balance. An example of this is Kepiaan, he is shown holding a weapon in one hand, while gesturing with three, and if you look at his rear, you see a long set thorax just like you see on creatures like Galin and Ibiaan. Another example of this is Khavakk, but in his case you can see all four arms and legs.

"Technically" this means that there are Arachnids amongst the Danians, and rather than just being just insects we have Insectile creatures, that is creatures with an insect like chitin (fancy word for bug skin) on the outside, no matter their number of legs.

Now as for that 10Lumb issue, this REALLY depends on what you judge to be limbs. There are onlya few major examples of this that I have amongst my own collection. Ghundac is the first example. You see two arms, six legs (an odd Danian for sure just from that), but you also see a pair of mantis like limbs with no hands. You see four similar limbs coming out of Neekwin's back. Now, whether these are limbs or not is really up for discussion. They can't hold items, it is difficult to say if they are used for attacking physically, or if they are possible of launching attacks themselves. In the last case, Mhein, if you count, he has 6 legs, and 4 arms, so there's less issue with what he can do.

Personally, I like to think of them as limbs. Neekwin having 10 limbs kind of expresses how he really is the "Mandiblor of the Mandiblor" when it comes to selecting a combat based Mandiblor! Although there are many, many more, I know very few people that can argue against the first thought in their heads when they hear the words "Combat" and "Mandiblor" in the same sentense is Neekwin.

This time around I feel like reminissing a little bit. Back when I first started playing chaotic 3 years ago now I had a very simple 3v3 deck... Lore in the back, with Ivelaan and Lhad taking up the front row. Back in the days of DOP, SOTH, and SS, Lhad had the highest average stats amongst pretty much all Danians. He is one of the only 2 Danians from the sets that could possibly get off a full megaroar. Though personally I enjoyed adding a Stonemail to him, if you're lucky enough to get a max stat copy of him like I did he could take on almost all comers. I defeated several Chaor, LVB, and Maxxor waaaaay back when using that old deck.

Sadly, the question comes up as to how good is Lhad compared to Current play? This question doesn't get a good answer... Yes Lhad has "fair" disciplines, but nothing of exceptional power, although a good compost deck could change this. With 40 average energy he falls somewhat short on the stand alone combatant list, although many Danians fit into that category. Lhad's other downfall is his element, Fire. This is not a very useful element for Danians unless you are attempting to construct a ore Fire based Danian deck, which is generally rather difficult to manage since so few powerful Danians can take advantage of it without help.

What I would really like to see, is a new, more powerful version of Lhad that can compete with already improved creatures such as Klencka and Lore... though with all of Lore's alterations being Ultra Rare this might be somewhat difficult. Then again, there aren't many players who haven't seen and drooled over the new Malvadine. Who knows, maybe Fire and Stone will have some extra suprises for us

All right, so as everyone can see this is a "cookie cutter" Neekwin concept deck. Now Aszil gives ALL danians you control Earth element, and in Hive Mandiblor gain Earth 5. So with Elna down, thats a Neekwin with 3 natural elements, and element 5 in two of them. Now, to take full advantage of Neekwin we have not only Unbalancing Battlesong, but Katharaz's Cocophony. Damage, Healing, and energy alteration effects.

If you choose to use Tassanil as your backrow creature, you have the opportunity to give Neekwin all 4 elements (or replace one if he loses it), which can make/keep Katharaz's Cocophany at 15-20 healing AND damage.

The attack deck is fixed so that it gives you what I feel are the best status inducing/damage dealing attacks to take advantage of the Element x effect Neekwin gains. Ice Disks and Whirling Wail drastically mess up opponents strategies, if you anage to pull both on the same turn it totaly shuts down their support ability. I like Deadwater Devastation more than Ice Disks for creatures such as Najarin: FF and Fluidmorphers, if you're facing a multitribal army it can also cut off one set of their mugic if they use a creature such as Xelfe or Kopond just to cast one tribe of mugic.

Locations are primarily support, Reflectorium is obvious, Mount Pillar Reservoir Liberated can help stack an extra counter or two onto Illexia just in case you get hit by a SCR, Silchaw's Mine makes Neekwin even more troublesome since he will only take 20 damage while hive is active from any attack, Bodal's Arsenal is a great location when it coes to using Vial of Liquid Thought, and Stortunnerl Flooding is a purely offensive location, giving 10 more energy and an extra water 5.

With Aszil coing, Danians will get an immense amount of new options, combining Aszil, Illexia, and Elna, it is possible to use any and ALL Danians as at least Pseudo combatants. Give Tabaal Earth and Earth 5, and even he can possibly take out a creature with a pair of well placed attacks. Daj-Huun gains element and element 5 making him a feaseable leaper into their back rows to take out their weaker support creatures.

Combining Tassanil with Aszil, any and all Danians become capable of using Elemental attacks from any two combinations that include Earth as one of the sets. The future will hold a lot of options for we insect lovers. Personally, I can't wait to see what else we're going to get!

well the game plan is very simple to follow most of the attacks are both water and fire four two reasons. First you will gain counters on nunk'worn and second you can take full advantage of piddan's ability by tranfering nunk'worn's counter to him thanks to na-inna, if you are lucky enoug you can code an ursis, chaor TF, tsk or a psi in one hit

Oh so Usably Unused and more!

It's time for another installation of Oh so Usably Unused and More! This time with a special addition. First, I will rate my favorite creature within the game, Kolmo: Assimilated. One of my best friends from Silent Sands, mostly to deal with his Mipedian counterpart.

Now Kolmo has several VERY key advantages, the first being that exluding the existance of the original Headmaster he is perfect for dealing with Mipedians invisibility abilities. His deleportation ability is also a key factor, because it forces your opponent to GREATLY attend to how they move their creatures, a single opening leaves their core support creatures vulnerable

to attack. Earth element is a good base for Danians, though the exclusion of Water is detremental, though this is easy to deal with.

Next are his stats, with two stats averaging 70+ and one with a possible 70, he works amazingly in a discipline based attack deck. Add one Ivelaan and thats a possible of 2 stats over 100. make it two and you can get a full Megaroar, with a Scepter of the Infernal Parasite that could be a good 40 damage.

Now, for the second part. This is a new and more for my article as usually I show a deck which focuses on that creature. But this time, I want to put forth a deck focusing on a deck idea that I once had a couple of page long arguement about with another player who came up with it. Sadly, I couldn't find the old record of the arguement, because I want to give him credit for bringing this deck idea to my attention. So here it is!

Now this deck uses your standard search and cycle for air/water, focusing on keeping water on as much as possible. Using this deck, you can build counters on Nunk'Worn to use Ode to Obscurity to infect as many creatures as possible. Once this is done you use strain of infection to place counters onto markabon while keeping creatures infected, then using the Cadence Clash/Lore: Hmoth trick can pull out a total of 12 counters onto Markabon while keeping creatures infected so that Illexia can also maintain her counters. Using Markabon primarily (Illexia only once he runs out after flipping the Stingblade using Gear Glissiando), you can then use the Stingblade Prototype to continually control the opponent's attack damage. Locations are focused on additional infection, enhancing Neekwin further, regaining battlegear, and cycling attacks.

There are holes as I am still trying to utilize this combination as well as I have seen before, but if nothing else it's an interesting combo to try and utilize.

I'd like to see people try to utilize this deck concept better still, show me what you can do with the Stingblade Prototype to try and control the battle!

All right! Now for the newest Oh so Usably Unused and more!!!

My featured Danian and deck for this week is a favorite for those fans of the show who favor Sarah, her good friend and all around lazy Mandiblor... WAMMA! Not just any Wamma either, but the original Dawn of Perim Wamma.

Now, for a Danian these stats are indeed, terrible. But, this wamma has one very useful redeaming feature. His higher power coincides perfectly with his primary element, Fire. Using this, we can take great advantage of it if we design a deck based primarily around this combination. Here is just one example of what one could do for something like that.

So, the way this deck works is rather straightforward. Using Ivelaan and gear Wamma's power can get up to 130, Easily able to outdo even some of the best underworlders in power challenges.

Now combining this with Wamma's energy gain ability, it becomes possible to infect upwards of 9 creatures, giving a total bonus energy count of 17x5 which (if your wamma is max energy) gives a total of 145 energy. Using a combination of mugic and getting lucky on locatinos, that "could" go up to 160.

It isn't a perfect construct, but it is definatly something that could give many decks a good run for their money!

Now I hope everyone can enjoy this, and always remember that we Danian players can quite literally use every stat for a build, and every element to the best of their ability. If you didn't want to use wamma, and simply wanted to garuntee a win in the power challenges and checks, then there is Valanii Levaan with his Hive: Gain 10 power per mandiblor and infected creature, at max this would give him upwards of 230 power before gear and luck. You never know what we danians are capable of.

For my next Oh so Usably Unused and more article, I am going to put forward a once popular Danian who still holds a special place in my heart, and whom my good friend cursed at for several hours when he saw how his favorite creature was stolen away bu the Danians. Can you guess who?

Before I begin my Oh so Usably Unused article I wanted to say how excited I am about having found a piece of the Mugician's Arch!!! I am still deciding whether to use it, sell it, or trade it though so any opinions would be appreciated, unbiased if possible ;)

Now, for my Oh so Usably Unused card, and a deck to match it!

Now Dasalin is an odd Danian, in particular due to his lacking courage, but his greatest advantage is in two areas. First, he is focused on the water element as many Danians are, and secondly he does NOT require the use of hive. As many Danians, he has a moderately high to high wisdom score which mixes rather well with the water element for attacks.

Now, recognizing it's abilities I've worked on the following deck to help build on these strengths, and though it is rare for me to build, this is a mixed tribal deck.

Now, this deck relies on the Gorram to increase Dasalin's Water to 15, with a possible 20 in 2 locations. The reflectorium allows for filtering to the more powerful attacks. There are many possibilities for what this deck could utilize, and though it does not have wisdom rivaling the more powerful OW creatures, using Outfreeze could easily change that.

You never know what creature will show great promise in a situation, including a rather lazy red Danian that I will be posting about for my next Oh So Useably Unused and more!

I hope Mandible and Quazer don't mind I posted this Fanfic, especially a spin-off. This will (hopefully) be my Prologue in a series of many Chapters, and it does apply here since it meets the requirement of "Branching Out." I hope you all like it! :D

Prologue: Plan B

=====================(Remnants of Mount Pillar, midway into the M'arr Invasion)

"Your Highness!" a calm soldier yelled to its Leader.

"What is it, Tarbok?!" Queen Illexia boomed.

"The Invaders' Tainted Water is protruding into the Main Sanctum!"

"We all know that!" she barked. "Get Tassanil!"

A few seconds later, the lanky Warrior rushed into the Queen's HeadQuarters.

"Yes, your highness?" the Heroic Noble questioned.

"Status report on the Reservoir!" she cried. "And, for the sake of Perim, do NOT tell me the obvious like your friend over there did!" She eyed the Mandiblor, who was staring into space, at attention.

"My pleasure, your Highness," Tassanil said quietly. "Our men can't take the Invaders anymore. I've lost nearly half my flank to those Bottom Dwellers and I'm sure Ekuud has as well! The Reservoir is expected to burst soon from the overflow of Invaders, according to Ibiaan's Calculations."

She sighed. "Thank you, Tassanil." She then paused for a moment, taking a tab of all the events so far and what their next course of action should be.

[We don't have enough Controllers left], she thought, [but our only hope is more Assimilations! Ugh!]

With the strain of that last word whizzing through her mind, it pierced the Antannae of all the Danians on Hive Call and a sharp ringing stuck. They all doubled over in pain, then wearily got back to what they were doing.

[I'm glad Aszil isn't in power yet. She wouldn't survive a day in this mess], she assured herself. [We would all be dead, surely. I really need a break soon...Wait till after the Invasion has paused]. The events of the Invasion has reduced the Queen to an unsensical babbling fool. [Get back on track, Illexia-Find a Plan]. The Past events, her Danians, the other Tribal Leaders-Something had to click!...And then it happened.

She shouted to her Guards surrounding her, "Find me a Map of Perim immediately!"

Not even a second went by when a Mandiblor pulled out a rolled-up Map from his Satchel and passed it to the Queen.

She unravaled the piece of Parchment, signed by Blazier in the bottom right-hand corner and entitled "Leader's Copy," and spotted the landmark that was surely her enormous abode. She scanned the Map hundreds of times before, and even now, and she realized she finally found her Plan B.

Oh so Usably Unused 2

Here is my second Oh so Usably Unused Danian. Now this one will seem familiar to those of you who remember my old Danian Burn deck that I constructed on the main site some time ago. He is a very useful Danian Muge, who with the right gear can be a complete power house.

Ability: 1MC deactivate Hive, deal 15 damage to target creature (Hive must be active to Deactivate it)

Now these aren't the best stats for a combatant y far, but there is gear to fix that. Khavakk's key strength is his ability. Not all Danian decks focus on the use of Hive, but many of the best cards can activate it and sometimes you find yourself stuck in a stalemate where that extra 15 damage is all you need. Khavaak helps turn your hive into a powerful damage dealing tool.

To discuss his other strengths, water element is a very useful tool. His scanned energy lets him fall under those lovely little cards that help creatures of that energy level such as Strike of the Meek, and Melody of the Meek, while increasung his strenghs with cards such as Stone Mail and Gigantroper.

Of course thanks to the invention of Aszil, it is also more than possible to run him in a standard earth/water style deck since she gives ALL Danians you control earth element.

Khavakk is one of those Danians who could serve as a powerful addition if used properly, and soon he'll be an even more useful tool in our Danian armory.

Card Combo From Hunterhawk1

Ok so I tried to get a pic of Ubliqun and this is it...it is a oldy but in my eyes still a goody. This may not be a Danian Combo but it is still a pretty awesome combo that no one besides my self has ever published on Chaoticgame.com or on blogs. Here is the combo

You give Ubliqun a Gigantroper and he can jump to the very back without triggering a Bronzeflight...meaning this is one of the cheapest ways to get past a bronzeflight. But think about put in a Ikkatosh TAK and a NFF and a Galpaal with a Recurring Rescue with a Melody of the Meek...think of how awesome that would be...

Just quick creature set up would be something like this

All right, now we've all seen tons of different Aszil decks to abuse many different creature strategies. This one is simple. Two of the best Danian elemental damage dealers, perfectly abuseable with Aszil.

All right, so this is the standard Danian Earth/Water style deck. Elna acts as your hive activator so that Neekwin and Irrabeq can maintain their extra Earth 5. Irrabeq is the best damage dealer thanks to The Doomhammer, but at 2/5 locations this will give an extra Water 5. The Reflectorium helps to cycle attacks of course, and The Passage: OW combos perfectly with Aszil.

Attacks are set up to take advantage of Earth/Water 5 of your creatures, apart from the 0 cost of course. Good dual elemental 0 costs are very hard to come by. Deluge of Doom can combo off Frightening Muck for creatures with matching or slightly higher courage than your own so that you can maxamize the Frightening Muck Damage. Marksman's Preperation is just too good of an attack not to use in amy deck, elemental or not.

This is a pretty straightforward elemental damage build for Danians. Short, sweet, effective.

Ok so I used to run a deck kinda of like this and the idea of the deck is that Elna gets to battle first and infects the other creature, They then get the carapace then a Neekwin fights that creature(most likely) and he gets rid of his gear and get Danian Carapace after being infected. He then goes on to fight another creature and lose infecting that creature and giving them Danian Carapace. At the point you can cast Strain of Infection and give Ramarhvir 3 counters plus 1 from his gear plus another 2-3 three from his ability and Elna so that is 6 counters to bring back Neekwin 3 times and every time he goes bye bye Illexia gains a counter PLUS since the creatures you'll be beating will be infected Illexia will basically gain a counter EVERY combat. Ode is there just in case you need more Infection or if Carapace is destroyed.

Let me know what you guys think about this idea of mine....if it is not new or original just say so...I don't mind you saying so because I am new to pure danian decks and this is a new combo to me.

We all know that the Danians have a great number of creatures that never seen any use, but how with the introductino of Aszil, we have just so many new opportunities. So I would like to bring out one of my favorite Danians who can see a very great deal of play due to the new opportunities given to us by Aszil.

The first, is Daj-Huun

Average Stats:

Courage 70

Power 50

Wisdom 35

Speed 70

Energy 45

Now, Daj-Huun's big appeal is his high courage and speed, making him very good for possible compost based stat decks. Now, earth has a great combination with Courage so using Aszil, you get to combine this element/stat relationship for some major damage. Now, gear for him could be very varied, you could take Aszil into account and give him The Doomhammer, or even the Drilldozer Custom Rig, or other combinations of tricks. Bi-mower cycle, Mower Cycle, and Song of Suprisal are key components for using him. His swift 2 gives him the potential to be one of the best jumpers in the game and taking advantage of this is top priority.

Giving a creature an element isn't the only way to give a major advantage to them, but it does allow you more options for a creature. Element boosting damage, attacks, locations, dozens of possibilities just by giving a creature an element. Earth can get you elemental damage, combinations with different attacks on stats, energy, and Danians are very good at taking advantage of the earth element.

All right everyone. As promised, I decided to show off our favorite Danian decks that seem to really pop up everywhere, but for now I'll only post the creatures and mugic since locations, and attack decks will take up too much space.

Deck 1: Neekwin revival

Now, we all know this deck, Neekwin revival. This deck uses Vilrik to deal with attacks like SCR and Whirling Wail's troublesome abilities, while Ulmquad gives that little extra damage support. Illexia gives defender to protect your creatures, and Lore: AC acts as a block to other revival decks, and acts as your primary caster. We have all thought about using this deck at one point as Danian users, and we all know just how good Neekwin is.

This deck can use any powerful mandiblor in place of the Neekwin/Haidrom mentioned, these are just the two more popular choices for this style of deck. It is as it looks, combat using the composters to get rid of them in order to strengthen your second line, using them to defend Illexia from jumpers, also using Ode with Ivelaan lets you build counters on Illexia for the Adaptive Progressions and Elemental Ellegies.

This deck works to build infection as high as possible, if the opponent uses Mipedian Balladeer's Flutes, it's a toss up whether to give these counters to Illexia or Tabaal with General's Standard for Ode to Obscurity. I've managed to see this deck hit +100 during Hive for Nimmei. The choice for the back line is up to you, using 1 Cadence Clash it is possible to get 3 uses of Strain of Infection with Lore: HMOTH, and situationally it is very possible to do this and maintain nearly full if not full infection. But, using Topar gives you a level of defence against opposing mugic, making it harder to burn your creatures away.

Now, this deck is an infection machine that has seen a fair bit of play. Using this combination of creatures and gear should allow for at least one use of Fliandar's heal per turn. Adding a max Fliandar and gear for 80 energy, upwards of 95 for no more than 2 turns in total and you can have some very useful healing.

Now these are only a small number of our ever so popular Danian decks, the top 4 in my opinion from keeping my eyes on the forums. So just to review.... we have

Hey everyone. Tsunai here, I wanted to first thank MandibleMuge for the invite as not only one of the Deck Builders for the Danian Hall but as the Danian Specialist as well. I will do all I can to bring my rather, out of the box methods to the board and take in new creatures with popular ideas to create powerfuil combinations and uses for our beloved insects.

I'll be starting off soon with some examples of the more "popular" Danian decks that we all see all over the place right now including Compost, Neekwin, Fliandar, Nimmei, and other such things as well as those that we will likely see once the new set comes out early this year.

Well Hello all, this is Hunterhawk1 the Branching Out Author with a Deck that I have been using in the Crellen Drome for 2-3 months and it has been doing awesome. It centers around the most Danian Creature who is not a Danian I know. Stelgar VM. I have made countless deck with Stelgar VM since he came out but none are as effective in Masters as this one.

The idea of the deck is to get counters on Ulmquad so he can take out creatures like Headmaster SoA, Zamool, NFF, and others so Stelgar can stay alive. The Neekwins are simply tanks. I mean Neekwin has got to be the best stand alone Danian of all time. Also if you want to use Melody of the Meek use Dibanni to put a counter on Stelgar so he can use it on himself. that way he will have massive every and the other guy can only deal 10 damage every attack...as Wootman found out i our awesome match couple of weeks back...but thats other story. New Danian of The Week & New Authors?!

Time for this week's Danian of the Week, but before that, I want to make a small announcement... Since the last tournament I had, Kerberos had a similar one on his blog, we may as well have another synchronized tourny! Because the authors on DH don't seem to be posting (SirNainad doesn't seem to be on chaotic as much, Beckett does have his own blog to look after, PC is probably busy with deck building and Buzzer is unfortunately not on chaotic as much) I decided I'd look for a few more. Now, I won't be removing the others, they can post whenever they like. Maybe they'll become active again, too..

It's not really a tourney, but over the next few weeks, I'll be looking for new authors.. Not only that, but now we'll have separate columns and sections for the authors to specify in! Here are the columns.

Danian of the Week, a High Muge Special!

That's right! I figured I haven't given this guy enough attention. I traded my Vlar and Taffial CH for him a while back, and I haven't had a chance to use him yet since he is still banned.. When I first saw him I thought "Meh, he looks pretty good." But now, while I'm deckbuilding, it turns out he's the kinda of card who's incredibly useful to have. Especially when you can get four uses out of Cadence Clash, double/triple some of your infection, get another Strain of Infection going, or even just stick to the classics and use Song of Symmetry four times! Imagine you have a flipped up General's Standard in your deck. Now use Ode of Obscurity twice, and once more with this guy. That's the whole board infected using two mugic cards! You can even give this guy Mipedian Balladeer's Flute and a Strain of Infection mugic. That gives him six counters, which doubles your mugic hand! Not too shabby at all, huh? Not to mention his cardart and flavour text are really cool, an he has earth, which helps if you have the new Wamma Flame Guard, or Rocky Refrain. A great High Muge for the danians, no doubt.

Well, I'm finally back! Sorry for leaving this blog totally abandoned while I was gone.
As for that contest, the code was a lock code and I'm not sure if it still works.. I'm epically sorry if it doesn't, to all.. four contestants ._. I'm working on something to make up for it right now, the winner should receive it if it works. For now, sorry about that again..

Oh, and what do you think of the new banner? Like it? Making it was quite fun and easy, if you'd like to know the basics of making a banner like that I'm happy to say :)

Anywho, for my homecoming article, I'm going to focus on a card that is such an obvious choice of a card to look at, that you wouldn't even expect! Something I haven't done so far because I was waiting for occasion to do this review of such an epic creature! What Danian would deserve such fanfare? Of course there is only one! Illexia, the head honchita herself! And not just a danian of the week thing, no sir, but a Full Card Analysis, the first one since Fliandar - I'll be taking a look at all aspects of the Queen, using the same format as before, with a slight change as Illexia has no flavour text.

Full Card Analysis! Illexia, The Danian Queen! So let's begin!

1 - C50/P65/W65/S25/E55 - These are her stats. So with a max energy of 65, she's pretty good for what is mainly a support creature. The rest of her stats are fairly average, but stats aren't especially important for her role in decks, but high enough so that she's not an absolute meekling.

2 - Elements - Earth. Not necessary usually, but if you give her doomhammer, she can be a good fighter if the worst comes to the worst. Also helps with things like rocky refrain.

3 - Energy - I already did that.. Didn't I o_O

4 - Mugic Ability - Two, but the possibilities are endless - When your or your opponents mandiblor/infected creature is coded, she gets another mugic counter - handy is an understatement.

5 - Ability - Here is where things get complex. Illexia has the highest amount of separate abilities on one card thus far in the game, so I'll go through them one by one.

1. Adjacent creatures gain "Defender" - This is useful in practically any deck. Infection, hive, compost, aggro, supercooled.. No matter what, constant defender is good. Being able to pick your battles is an advantage that is so worthy to have, it could win you the game.

2. Whenever a mandiblor or infected creature is coded, Illexia gets a counter. This feeds into her next two abilities, so I'll talk about it there.

3. Activate Hive until end of turn for one counter. Simple, useful - A staple danian ability that in some way benefits every danian deck. A necessity for the queen, and her counters can be many thanks to number 2.

4. Possibly my favourite of her abilities. During Hive, her counter's count as your mandiblors. Simply amazing - Because of the counters from her second ability, it's like your mandiblors never die. They are still there, in the hive anyway. And thanks to her third ability, you can always activate hive. So with Illexia alone, you could activate hive and have an automatic mandiblor count of 3 or 4, without even counting creatures. This ability is, like all of her abilities except hive activation, completely unique to the queen.

6 - Rarity - Ultra rare for a card this diverse and useful? They should have made up a few new rarities for illexia, and put her at the top if you ask me. As a tribe leader, Ultra Rare is required.

7 - Subtypes - Illexia is a Noble. This makes sense, because she is the queen of the danians and thus the noblest of the noble. Nobles tend to be protected by mandiblors, and no one is protected better than Illexia. This actually shows in her ability, because any creature near her is a potential bodyguard. Constant watch isn't appointed to just any measly mandiblor!

8 - Cardart - I think when Illexia first came out, most players were disappointed, as you can't see her very well. Here is a close up of her..

Okay, so, being perfectly honest... I love her cardart! Honestly, I think it's awesome. I think that Illexia, as a tribe leader, is more realistic than the others. You gotta have real brains, motivational powers and the ability to stand back and observe to be a tribe leader, like the reclusive king of the mipedians does too. When Chaor or Maxxor charge into battle, they just might miss something.. But that's not the main reason I like her.

First, I like all of the Mandiblor Guards in her cardart. It really shows the solidity and ferocity of the Danian Defense, and lets you know the danians have no nonsense when it comes to watching over their queen.

But I like best the Illexia that you can see better in the close up I posted. First, you see how old and experienced she is, and the shape of her mandibles and stuff. But also, you can see her shouting, or making a speech. She looks like she has a strong spirit even if her body isn't as strong as some other creatures. Her eyes are glowing, which suggests something mugical, which is good because she is a support creature.. All in all, you can tell she's someone who commands a LOT of power in more than one way. It's an electrifying card art, if you ask me.

9 - Illexia is a truly amazing card for danians. She can be the center, and have a deck built around her if you want, but normally that's not how it works. With most tribe leaders, the decks are there to make them strong. For example, Iflar might need a wingman or two, and two owayki in the back. Aa'une needs his tribe to get powerful. But Illexia is rarely the main aspect of a deck, but rather she amplifies the other card. The tribe isn't there for the leader, rather the leader is there for the tribe. It's the group that matters with danians, and Illexia does this perfectly. Her abilities benefit all of your other creatures in an invaluable way. Almost any danian deck is benefitted by her presence.

Thus, she earns my highest rating for a card, ever. 9/10

Anywho, rules are the same, everythings the same! Actually, no, it's not. Slight change in the rules.

"Originality: (You can use the same old Nimmei build, but if you put an original spin on it, you will get more points)
Effectiveness: (Using random cards is original.. will it win a match?)
Mechanics: (Does it really work? Be sure to brush up on your rulings before you submit a deck!)
Consistency: (Does everything work together? Do your attacks, elements, locations and creatures mesh together? Do you have control-tendencies in an aggro deck that dont fit?)

Rules!
1 - These decks can be hypothetical. You do not have to actually have the cards. However, keep it practical. If there is an ultra in somewhere where a common could be used, you could lose marks.
2 - Please do not copy decks. This is almost impossible to police, but to reinforce this, do not show anyone else your deck! If you do not show anyone else your deck, and it's original, then no one can have copied you.
3 - Tournament ends 20th November.
4- I WILL not Accept decks from people who have not read the rules, So to confirm this in you message any put, Long Live Illexia!
5 - PM all submissions to me in 6v6 Master rules format on Chaotic. Screen-name is MandibleMuge
6 - The decks can be mixed decks, so long as it includes at least one Danian creature, and it must center around using the Danian. For example,Using a Gorram deck with two Xaerv Monsoon Defenders is fine , using a Grantkae deck with two Neekwins is Not.

Ah, Hallowe'en.. My favourite holiday! I just love it.. So why don't we have a chaotic hallowe'en? Danian (Combo!) of the week!

Ulmquad is this weeks danian of the week!

He is the first minion to be made danian of the week thus far, but believe me, this guy ROCKS! He has a slightly improved ability to Lore from DoP - Lore healed the energy, whereas Ulmquad actually gains it - Though he only has two counters instead of three, it's well worth it whn you consider his decent stats (55 energy, 75 Courage, other stats hover around 50) and two elements. He fits in well with neekwin/klencka builds due to his elements, and battlegear serves him better than the Orb of Unda. Say you use his ability twice - 20 heal, 20 deal. Then heal with orb of unda - 30 heal, 20 deal. Now use your extra counter for unbalancing battlesong. 45 heal, 35 deal. That's an awesome way to start a battle, right? My Ulmquad has average energy, 55, so that bumps it up to 100 energy, and takes the other creature down by 35. Imagine facing a tank who has around 70 energy - Now it's only 45! All in all, this is a combo that kills in 1v1. Cards like witnerclaw, essential evaporation, flood force and airsault all make for a good attack deck, and mugic and battlegear is simple enough. It's also a good idea when making a 1v1 to throw in gear grind - Your battlegear is sacrificed already, so just take their's out. Simple enough, and a solid build.

Adapting to your Enemies: Retaliatory Strike

So a while ago I did an article on Adapting to your enemies, something danians are masters at. The tribe does this by using Compost, Infecting, and Element Proof, but the new set brought a real gem - Retaliatory Strike. An attack I was more excited about than Combustion Carnage or Grounding Grapple! Retaliatory Strike is all about using your opponent's strengths against them. Like when fighting a bigger opponent, you use their weight against them to succeed.

Let's look at Overworlders and Underworlders. Sworn enemies, because they have almost completely opposite fighting styles - Underworlders are totally destructive, whereas Overworlders focus on helping and healing.

But it's not a solitary incident - Mipedians and Danians are also immersed in a gritty rivalry - Why? They too, have very different styles. While mipedians do use mugic and battlegear to control the game, their main power lies in their attacks. Think about it - With two owaykis, maliph, a vlaric shard and a storm tunnel, that's strike: 25, with earth 5 and air 5, bringing a simple attack like thunder shout up to 55 damage! Mipedians repeatedly use these kind of attacks, and they work independently. Owayki helps other mipedians, but if he gets taken out, the rest of the mipedians still have a good shot at winning. Why? They are more independent. They don't need as much support, because of their devastating attack power.

Now look at danians - Typically, the attacks aren't as important. Look at Fliandar - Even if he were to use nothing but spirit gusts, with the right support team he'd still wear his opponent down because of his healing ability. But danians do rely heavily on support and resources - Meticulous planning and combinations are important. Now I'm not saying there aren't exceptions - There are complex mipedians and aggro-tank danians, but that's how it usually is.

So I was playing a match yesterday, and boom. One attack, from Rasbma Darini, and boom - 55 damage, I'm at 5 energy. I know that there's no attack in my deck that could deal 60 damage to take out a Rasbma Darini with no damage done to it, and I'm out of mugic. Then I pull retaliatory strike. Talk about a game-changer! Having a wild card like this one is awesome, and although 3BP is a little hefty, it is definitely worth it. When you can't rely on your own strength, use your opponent's against them!

I just see this as a good weapon against mipedian decks. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a danian player and I love the lizards, but there is definite rivalry there.

Rate this attack? I suppose it may as well be a featured card. I myself give it an 8/10, because it's truly spectacular - And if it comes up at the wrong time, you can always wait till later on when it's more useful. Really versatile, and your opponent rarely sees it coming ;)

AU review: Danian Mugic!

Alright, it's pretty late, but here is the review on Danian Mugic from Alliances Unravelled!

Elemental Counterpoint.
Nice and simple - You can shave a lot of damage of off most elemental attacks, and completely negate things like Apoc-Eclipse, Purifying Mud or Land-Gore. A really handy one-cost mugic, just watch out for those new 30 damage attacks that do 10 base, 10 for a discipline and 10 for an element.

Ancestral Anthem.
This is a great mugic, more or less free hive! I like that now you can use the discard pile without being tied down to the typical Makanaz/Ivelaan combos. Imagine this with Lore HMotH! Four free hives, as long as you don't need to use your discard creatures.

Empowering Encore.
Awesome mugic! I like this one a lot - Now picture you ARE using that clichéd makanaz/Ivelaan combo. Now you can give a creature with no elements, like Ketun, three elements, fire, earth and water. It's like an updated version of Danian Elemental Choral (a mugic which, by the way, is a reliable card even in the modern metagame) Again it's only one counter for cost, which is always good. I could see this fitting in some new compost decks, since it's rare you can make a full fledged elemental deck out of those. An added note: It goes great with Gorram!

Ah, the danian battlesong. I like these new battlesongs, it encourages us to get our muges in battle, which spurs some interesting deck builds. Of course, it also goes well with cards like Odu-Bathax, Hiadrom and Neekwin. Four things - Hiadrom, hive amber, unbalancing battlesong - 1v1! That's 30 gain, 30 deal. I think this is probably the simplest, most usable of the five battlesongs.

Rocky Refrain.
The rarest mugic for danians this time round. It's not astoundingly good, but it could come in handy. When you are looking for a caster with earth who has easy access to 2MC, either of the two most recent Lore's spring to mind. I suppose it could go from a 20-30 damage heal, 40 at the best. So it's in between a song of resurgence and a harmonious highsong, at worst, a mere minor flourish, at best two songs of resurgence in one tidy little package. Very doable, but it's one of those things that are very situational, and could easily go wrong. Still, the danians needed a good new healing mugic, and since elemental decks are becoming more popular, this is just another way to use your opponents strengths against you.

Hammerdoom Chantcaller

"The boy who cried wolf" and "the scout who cried hammerdoom" - Hammerdoom was supposedly the brutish underworlder who terrorized danians. Though he never really got to do much damage before he was instantly buggified.

If you look at his stats, the only thing that jumps out is Courage,a nd even that's not that great.
With decent energy, and the ability to lay the beat down on Underworlders, he's not a bad card. His Hive: Fireproof ability isn't a bad addition to his repertoire, but all in all, the best case scenario for this guy is 10 extra energy and an additional 5 damage with attacks.
Of course, you could always put him with his signature gear, the doomhammer. Leaving him at 10 damage against Underworlders, 5 against danians, 10 extra energy, earth 5, 60 energy, 60 speed, 60 wisdom, 50 power, and 80 courage. That's a fully maxxed Hammerdoom with a doomhammer, hive active and an opponent with fire. Even with all of that, he's not spectacular.

Even so, back in the day he was one of the first solid warriors for danians. Though he might only scrape rare in today's market, he is a good addition to the Assimilated ranks of the Danian tribe.

Branching Out: Smildon

Welcome to another branching out. This guy is my current favourite of the tribeless creatures.

So first he has Defender: Earth. This is useful for defending earth-elemental casters, without investing in getting an Illexia, creatures such as Tharc, or either of the new Lores. Of course, he can also defend against your fighters that have earth (handy if you are running a noaz, too) to mess with your opponents.

And his second ability makes him even better. Since you won't be casting with him much, as he can't play tribal mugic, you can use both counters for his ability. I can think of a few times when I would have been thankful for it. For example, in a crucial battle with a minion, and invisible walls comes up. Or when I needed my ambolx to infect, and a Lake-Ken-I-Po Ritual Site came up, stopping me from expending elements. Or what about when my Aureban had 110 energy with hive, and then an open doors of the deepmines sprung up, making his ability useless. Locations can be REAL game changers, and though smildon may not stop lore's chamber, he still has endless uses. With cards like Orbaat and Grounding Grapple, the danians have a lot of location-manipulating cards, and they, of course, are best with using earth, so Smildon fits in perfectly.

While his high power and low wisdom isn't exactly pure danian, he does have good courage and speed. Did someone say Ghundac combo? Though mono-elemental, that does fit in with the new AU attack decks, couple that with his dual-ability (one innate, one activated) and his well-balanced disciplines mean he is a good solid creature, lightly styled towards fitting in with danians.

Interesting, how he himself holds the power to stop the "Blight" in the card. Just an interesting side note :)

Exploring Alliances Unravelled.

So I thought to myself "Boy, I really love Valban, but I've ranted about him enough."

Then I thought "But wait! I've only ranted about him once in my blog, in the AU review", so OFFICIALLY it's only been one rant. Which definitely allows me one more.

But this isn't just gonna be about valban. Because I want to slow down danian of the weeks, I'm just giving general strategy tips here. Anyway, here goes.

This is a great combo - Citadel Fragments are quite the versatile gear. Make your elementalists tanks and your tanks disciplineers. Now, back to Valban's stats:
75 40 65 40 55
That's the average valban. To show you where I'm coming from, mine has:
80 50 70 45 50

So as long as you have average or up on courage and wisdom, you'll do fine. So, with the full effect of citadel fragments, my Valban would be:
100 70 90 65 70
And he would have all four elements. That makes him a really well balanced fighter, great disciplines, all elements, and he can pull of almost any kind of attack. Now how do you get him all four elements? It's not such a strain as it might seem. In fact, it fits in well with the same cards that make up an ordinary infection/aggro danian deck.

Ambolx and Orchis Undin. Need I remind you that, if you flip up his gear with a gear glissando, for a measly one mugic counter you have double infection every turn for no cost. Infect once at the start, once when combat begins. That is an infection tank! Imagine that with a Fliandar! You have an invincible creature!In fact, imagine two of those with fliandar! Four free infection? Each turn? Sure, you may get thwarted with a gear grind or pulse beacons every now and then, but even so you might be able to re-flip, or just use their ability without the gear. With Valban, one is enough and you can get your elements in no time. Don't forget ambolx has two counters too, so you won't be wasting a muge spot.

Why these two? Ghundac and Nunk'worn are the perfect partners for Valban. Give Ghundac a shard of the staunch or Orchis Undin for water, and use Nunk'worn as a muge. Now you have muge, scout and warrior. But the main reason is because between these two guys, Valban can get all four elements. Fire and water off of nunk'worn, Aire and Earth off of Ghundac. Of course, you could also use something like Yondaf or Drazz with Tarbok, but these three blend together perfectly.

Also, picture a Yondaf SI with an Ambolx. Not necessarily with Valban, but with Nimmei in an infection deck. Say you've managed to infect the whole board - Use Yondaf to uninfect three creatures and deal 10 - The next turn, Ambolx can re-infect two, and Yondaf will re-infect himself. It's nice to have some quick burn ready at any time.

So these are just a few combos I got out of AU, and they are just scratching the surface. Remember, be creative with your decks, look for those cool combos and secret strategies that you can call your own!

Danian of the week!

This is Orbaat, a new composter muge from Alliances Unravelled. There are a bunch of reasons why I like this guy, actually. First he has fair stats and the water element. Second, he comes with two counters to cast a tricky mugic like adaptive progression or ode to obscurity. Third, he is a compost creature, but not the kind of composter that your whole deck revolves around, he is more of a bonus than an essential.

But he can be used oh so well. First he works great whenever you flip your location. He also works great with the new Blazier and with Biakan from RotO, as well as with the new Earth attack that gets a new location, grounding grapple, and terraport and mirthquake. Plus the new danian league reward, Gazarbash, infecting terraformer. Not to mention an Olkiex/Fluidmorpher/Telebracers combo. This guy is great for getting ultimate control over the game, which, though it usually isn't my style, is pretty darn useful.

So just a quick one this week, tell me what you think :)

Valban

This guy I love.. Along with Ambolx and Mhein, he is one of my favourite cards this set. If I remember right, he has pretty good stats.. But as most of you may know, I love both danian elementalists, and infection. So I couldn't really get a better card. Fancy a third Nimmei on your team, or like the look of your opponents heptadd? Valban is just plain awesome.

Practicality: 8 (its easy to infect someone like drazz or lendai and have a dual benefit)
Diversity: 8 (any elements you want!)
Overall: 9 (Yup, my second and last nine)

Yondaf, Symbiotic Infector

A stronger focus on infecting this set.. I love it. Can't say the same for this particular guy though. His first ability is great, and I anticipated someone having it, but 3 uninfected creatures is worth ten damage? I think not. Sure, he has much better elements, mugic and stats, but beyond that.. meh. I thought this kinda weak, high cost burn had stopped by now, but I guess not. At least he works well with Valban, automatically giving valban earth and water on your turn.

Tarin

This guy isn't "Whoa!" or "Bleh!" I guess he's sorta "meh", but his ability could be awesome. He has few restrictions.. Considering he isn't loyal or unique, so he works well with Majjcan (10 energyand earth 5), another Tarin, (20 energy to almost all danian combatants!) and Rock River Canyon (30 energy! O_O) Since it isn't Hive-dependent, he's pretty flexible.This is the one from TCGplayer. review, so you have his stats there. Not great, only one above 60, but its the one that counts (courage). Earth, and 45 energy pretty cool, all in all. Still, with no mugic he is unreliable as a support card, unlike his OW counterpart, Rellim WM

Nimmei, Expedition Overseer

Bleh, the second card I shall negatively review. I hate to rant negatively, but.. Well, here goes. Why I do NOT like the new Nimmei.

Nimmei has always been the relatively cheap but reliable option for danian decks that even newer players could use, and older players could trust. Now he is ultimate high end.
The old Nimmei, in his cardart, was "Young" and "untested" and looked friendly. This one is old, mean, and bossy. Alright thats a bit off topic but still..
His ability is just lousy if you ask me. First off, what if you have an earth/water/air attack deck and they have primarily fire/air attacks? Two thirds of your attacks are now useless? Nuh uh! That is such an unreliable strategy! Hello?!
He has no mugic counter and isn't an elementalist.
His ability cant be extended in creative ways like many danian abilities.

Okay, okay, so I better do the pros as well as the cons.

He isn't unique or loyal..
His ability, if used right, can be quite lethal.. I dunno if he retains the element 5 if hes hit by two attacks of the same element, and then gets element 10.. Probably not, but if so, cool.
His stats are quite good.

So that's it.. The once card I was genuinely disappointed in this entire set.. Feel free to call me crazy for this, but that's my opinion on him.

Lore, High Muge of the Hive

Yay! Third Lore! :D I won't rant about how I don't think he is as good as the last Lore, because the point of the high muges isn't to be mugical or burn tanks, its to use mugic creatively unlike ever before, and I love to see a way of mixing mugic with compost! He might not be the most effective of the High Muges, but I still say his ability is damn cool! What I am most excited about is Strain of Infection and Makrabon. You can get six mugic counters absolutely free. That is just epic. He has earth and I think, 80 courage? 2 mugic is meaty enough for most mugics you would want to re-use, and give him a balladeer's flute for more. Plus, With a little help from Nunk'worn Assimilated and a Lot of help from Inner Flood, this guy can be the ultimate mugical battery. Your opponent can play six mugics whilst you can play twelve. That is the essence of Lore, High Muge of the Hive.

Anyone who has made even brief contact with me in the last few days knows that I think this guy is AWESOME! Basically, he is an amped version of topar. Better stats than topar, an element, unlike topar, two counters, like Topar, and he can infect on each of your turns, like topar, but also on your opponents turn. If you get water for him again, maybe even twice. For no cost. This guy ROCKS. Awesome flavour text too. Note that he could fight if he has to.. He has Elementalist and Muge as his creature types, so the pauldrons work for him, as does Muge's Edge.

Okay, so if you took part in Kerberos' Create-A-Card contest back on Chaotic Insider, you might be asking yourself if this guy looks familiar.. Well yep, back then the art wasn't used, but now Gareep is a fully fledged Danian Muge.. Basically, once your first creature goes, he becomes a Rebant with Earth elment. Thing is, he gets a counter for it each turn. And in a compost deck, you lose a creature for at least the first three turns, turning this guy into quite the mugical Hive battery. Even if you don't use him for hive its a good way to get more counters handy. He is sort of a less powerful kind of "Reverse Lore AC" Not bad

Hiadrom, Rock Ripper.

The first remake I get to review! I'm really glad they remade Diligent old Hiadrom, a favourite for danian budget decks and 1v1. His old ability was solid and independent, and so is this one. Problem is, to get the energy you need to sacrifice his earth, and without earth he has only his stats to fight with.. Hence two ivelaans go great with this dude.

Mhein is my favourite guy from the set. For danians at least. He is that good. An additional 5 energy for each creature in ALL discard piles? Three elements? Awesome courage and power? This guy is a really solid creature whom the danians have needed. Being a mandiblor and getting energy from discarded creatures just has to be put with Compost in some deck. From just two makanaz, he gains 40 energy! And if those two took out two of your opponents creatures, its 50! Still, I wish we could do something about those Lore's Chambers.

Yay! New Odu-Bathax, and he isn't super or rare or ultra or anything, huzzah! A really solid, all round creature, this guy. He excels in using his stats, elements, and mugic. Earth and Earth 5, 90 Courage and outperform courage 5... Pretty sweet. And if you expend his earth before he enters combat, you can use the gear that gives earth at the beginning of combat, or Nom, and get Earth back. That way, you just got free earth 5 and outperform courage 5. Pretty sweet.

Wow, I really like this guy. Danians badly needed a jumper.. He has great courage/speed, air/earth and range/swift.. This guy just screams "Put me with Noaz and Majjcan" Braveglint and Whirling Wail and you have yourself a solid deck.

This guys stats are great, which is good because he has no elements. 80 courage and wisdom is great for danian decks, yet again I recommend directed bravery, and you can also use powercut with his 60 power. He has no elements, but can get them from the pauldrons, and has a counter. His ability is really awesome, and that 5 damage all adds up. Really great card.

Ooh, those sneaky card designers! He gets 5 energy for your danians and 5 for your past creatures.. But there is only one past danian creature.. So his energy won't be soaring to impossible heights or anything, it's either a danian or a past creature deck for him, not both. Ah, pity. But if you can include a Northrange, that works too. Also, he isn't unique.

This guy is interesting. Two mugic, water, fair enough stats, and while a lot of cards here interact with the discarded creatures, this is the first real composter. Nice ability, it could be used in lots of sneaky ways!

Tharc, Tablet Translator

The final card I'll review today. If you ask me, its amazingly good. Tharc is a fairly good fighter with good courage/wisdom and earth. Plus he can give himself 100 courage.. Basically his ability rocks. Use him with cards like Drazz and Elhadd, I really wanted a good danian Stat-raiser. Danian tablet translator really set the standard for them.. Yep, I love this guy, and his one counter is nothing that a mipedian balladeer's flute and some chimegrids wont fix ;^)
Plus, I think his flavour text is the first time that danians have been called "the bugs" officially in chaotic :P xD

Danian of the Week/Assimilated Article Crossover Special!

I've got a very special Danian of the Week lined up for you today, as it is crossed over with an Assimilated Article. Straight from the Collection Page of SL:AU, it is the one and only assimilated M'arillian.

Yes, that's right. We endured. We endured the m'arillians taking our reservoir, diminishing our courage, invading mount pillar - Looks like the Danians couldn't take anymore. From the flavour texts, we can see that the mipedians and Underworlders are still locked in combat with Ihun'Kalin and Milla'in, whilst Erak'tabb and Neth'uar have been defeated. The riverlands have gone to ruin, but thanks to Odu-Bathax, the Reservoir Reclaimer, the danians got back their foothold in peak condition. Basically, the danian tribe recovered from the m'arillian attack in the best and quickest way: Not only did they fight off the m'arillians, they even assimilated one.

Nunk'worn thought he was so invincible, in both of his cardarts, attacking mandiblors. Well it caught up with him, and the danians fought back. Now Nunk'worn, the mighty m'arillian, is a Danian lacky. I can't tell you how gleeful I am to see this.. The m'arillians haven sunk to this level. I wanted an assimilated m'arillian for so long, and to think it is one of their most treasured warriors, it's a really big hit.
Anyway, I'll stop ranting on that, on to the actual card..

70c 60p 70w 40s 35e

Alright, so, as you can see, great courage and wisdom, fair power, not great speed and poor energy. Unlike the last Nunk'worn, it's not quite built for combat. But I can see one with +5 or max courage being used with an Evergreen Tunic to bring it's energy up to a fair 55 or 60. Attacks like Directed Bravery, already popular with danian decks due to their typically high courage and wisdom, work great. He can also pull off a Powercut, which isn't a bad 0BP attack if you can pull it off.

Unfortunately not a Mandiblor like the other Assimilates, but still a very good card. He has water, a great element for danians, and fire, which isn't too bad, and fits in with cards like Makanaz. His fluidmorph ability fits in perfectly with the Danians being experts at gathering mugic counters in lots of ways. Sure his counters get depleted after each turn, but with cards like Liquid Thought Evaporator and Storm Tunnel Ki'bro's Foothold, you can get and use counters very quickly. Careful though, don't plan any mixed decks with him, this guy is loyal, ironically.

I love this guy, as he shows the awesome power of Danian Infection!

Full card Analysis: Fliandar

Okay, so while there are the featured weekly danians, I'm also gonna start doing full card analysis', for the more complex cards that have a bit more depth in them and need more focus than what they get in the danian of the week articles. This week, its one of the two danians who have been dominating my mind. I really want to make a deck around them. For now, I'll just show you one, Fliandar.

So this guy is the Rise of the Oligarch Ultra Rare Danian. This really is a "Full card analysis" as I'll be covering every aspect of this guy, formatted like so:

Yes, I'm even gonna review the art.. I know it seems like a lot but some of it will probably only be one sentence or two.. So let's get started with the first full card analysis!

1) Stats: 85 Courage, 45 Power, 75 Wisdom, 35 Speed. High courage, typical of the danian tribe, and high wisdom, also useful, probably the danian secondary discipline. Attacks like directed bravery and Charge of the Brave are perfect for Fliandar.

2) Elements: Earth and water, staple elements for the danian tribe, he fits with almost any danian attack deck. Cards like swarming destruction and Ice Disks are perfect for fliandar.

Discipline/element crossover attacks like Deluge of Doom and Geyser gush are also must-haves for fliandar decks.
So far it's a typical danian. From here on is where fliandar distincts himself.

3) Energy: An average of 60. Pretty beefy energy all in all, coupled with an evergreen tunic and it can soar to spectacular heights.

4) Mugic Ability: One mugic counter. Not bad, it makes him very balanced. Two elements, two strong stats, high energy and a mugic. The mugic can give him an edge by letting him bring a simple one cost such as song of symmetry or unisong.

5) Ability: Here's where Fliandar really sets himself apart. Uninfect 3 Infected Creatures: Activate Hive and heal all damage to fliandar. There are quite a few levels to the depth of this ability, so let's take it in small steps. Uninfecting 3 creatures. This might seem pricey, but when you think about it, with current cards like a brainwashed tabaal, illexia, topar and ode to obscurity, infecting three is really pretty easy. Since tabaal's brainwashed ability is "Sacrifice a Mandiblor: Infect 3 creatures", for all intents and purposes it becomes "Sacrifice a mandiblor, heal all damage to fliandar and activate hive." This is definitely worth it, sacrificing a mandiblor who can't fight to heal your deck's main supporter, in full, is monstrously good.
Also note, if you are facing another infection army using, say, nimmei, you can uninfect the creatures they infected to heal fliandar and bring down nimmei's ability. Just another useful bit.

Second, let's look at the commonly overlooked part of his ability: Activate Hive. Fliandar himself doesn't use hive, so this is rarely implemented. But use a card like stingblade or unisong with it, and you have yourself an awesome combo.

Finally, heal all damage to fliandar. No other card just yet can heal "All Damage" to a creature indefinitely. So let's say Fliandar has 65 scanned energy, he's equipped with an evergreen tunic and the location is doors of the deepmines. That's 95 energy. Fliandar is brought down to 5 energy. You have nine creatures infected. Heal him to full, that's a 90 energy heal. You can do this three times.
All in all, that's a 270 energy heal. While it was done in an idyllic situation, which you won't have all the time, it's still pretty serious stuff. That's the equivalent of over 5 husk armours.
So you can see how devastating an ability Fliandar has. If used right, it can be an absolute game-changer.

6) Rarity: Definitely deserves ultra rare. Why you ask? Did you not just see the "270 energy heal?" That is reason enough in my ever humble opinion.

7) Subtypes: Danian creature squadleader. Pity, he's not a mandiblor so can't benefit from compost. Still, who needs compost when you can heal like that? Also note that he isn't loyal or unique. If you are lucky enough to be able to get two, Do.

8) Flavour Text: "Part Squadleader, part Parasite, all Danian." Gotta love this flavour text. Fills you with danian pride.. xD So we can see his a Squadleader who not only uses parasites, but is actually bonded with them, interesting. So maybe fliandar isn't a "he", but a "them".

9) Cardart: I'm gonna post the full art. I dunno if blogger will downsize it enough to make the difference barely noticeable, but oh well.

Eh, I guess it's a bit better than what you can make out on the card. Seeing it like this lets you see more detail though, sucha s his eyes and the massive bull-horn like mandibles he has. It's currently my desktop wallpaper.. xD But this art is really awesome, and it inspired me to actually analyze the art too. Props to Khary Randolph. So he has 8 limbs - Your typical mandiblor has 6, four legs, two arms, but some nobles, controllers and squadleaders have another set of arms. Fliandar here is one of them, but his arms are actually a bunch of parasites. It makes me think of how ants work together with "swarm intelligence" to make a ladder out of ants or something to bridge a gap. He draws power from the parasites.. He's like a giant symbiote. Plus, we can see him owning two guys simultaneously with his supreme bugginess. Hence I really like this guys art.

Adapting to your enemies!

So by now, in the metagame, each tribe has a very defined role.
Overworld has it's defensive qualities. Heal the energy, up the disciplines, give the elements. Overworld is all about being constructive - They win the battle by pumping up your creatures instead of bringing down their creatures.

Underworld is the destructive side of things. Where Overworld gives elements, underworld removes them. Where Mipedians manipulates battlegear, Underworld destroys it. Stat and energy destruction helps the Underworld - Instead of making up for their own flaws, such as exhaust and recklessness, they just give their enemies bigger problems to worry about. Their abilities are the opposite of overworld - Intimidate brings down your opponent whilst support brings up your skills. These are outdated examples, but look at Maxxor PoP and Chaor TF - Maxxor is all about making himself hit back harder with a good defense, and Chaor, with fire 10, is all about making monster attacks.

Mipedians are quite unique in that they control the game. With cards like notes of neverwhere, melody of mirage, melodic might, they can control your attack deck, locations, your opponents attacks.. Most of all though, is their supreme battlegear control. Gear glissando, Disarming Theme, Armament Adagio, Tune of Xerium... They can use invisibility to shut down your opponents gear with disarm, or gain initiative with surprise, and manipulate attack damage with strike. Not to mention air is the "control" element. Look at sirocco, ravanaugh ridge, tornado tackle, aerodrone, etc., and they even control the battleboard positioning with things like switch riff and vigorous gust Mipedians are most comparable with the overworld, both of whom share "control"-esque strategies, such as garv, viqtarr, rhyme of the reckless and lomma.

So I don't want to bore you with a massive article, and I don't want to go on and on about the other tribes. How do danians work? First thing that comes to mind is teamwork, the individual working for the group. But how does it show in the actual gameplay? Danians are about adapting to your opponents. Look at some DoP cards, which are some of the most telling cards there are. Danians have hardly any jumpers or swift-users in the tribe, so they adapt to their weaknesses with song of surprisal. But how else do we do it?

Elementproof

Ahh, Katharaz. The guy revolutionised Danian Elementalists. But what's important here is his elementproof. Elementproof is pulled off the best by danians, and it's because we can adapt to our opponent's strengths (their elements) and use it to our advantage. It started off simple (with cards like kelvedran, song of resilience, HammerDoom Assimilated) but even in modern sets there are great examples of elementproof users (klencka, aureban, tarbok, lobanne)

Illexia

Illexia is an amazing card, for a bunch of reasons, but for fear of being side tracked, I'm going to stick to her first ability. "Adjacent creatures gain "Defender.""
The reason this is so good, is because danians are very resource-dependent. Our muges can be integral to the whole game, and leaving them unguarded is chaotic suicide. Sad, but true, our decks can often (but not necessarily always) have this as a main weakness. Illexia gives all adjacent creatures defender, meaning your nimmei or katharaz can step in instead of your lobanne. This is, again, adapting to a weakness and making it a strength.

Infecting

Infecting creatures - How is this adapting to your opponents? Simple. If you are outnumbered, outgeared, outmugiced and outdone in every seemingly possible way, how do you fight back? You take your opponents creatures and turn them into resources for your creatures. Taking opponents and using them for your own benefit couldn't be more danian.

And finally..

Compost

So you are losing a battle bad, half your creatures are in the discard pile and you have one little mandiblor left. How do you turn this situation around? You tap into the power of the fallen - You use your opponents victories to defeat them. Talk about using their skills against them, huh?

So this is an article on the nature of danian gameplay. Use your opponent's strengths against them, and you'll be in sync with the hive! Sorry it was so long, but I wanted to write this for a while.

A very late Danian of the Week: Makrabon!

This week is a favourite of mine! Makrabon!

Makrabon

A common controller from Silent Sands, makrabon is like a reversed form of tabaal. Instead of spending a mugic to infect, he gains a mugic to infect. Makrabon is sorta like the poor man's Illexia, when you think about it. He can gain lots of counters with cards like Strain of Infection, and you benefit from it. He and strain of infection are a deadly combo. Infectious melody and tabaal infects four cards, uninfect three and Makrabon gains 3, and then you reinfect them. Then sacrifice a balladeer's flute, and use Rao'Pa Sahkk Chimegrid, or Dibanni, or Inner flood... The possibilities are endless and you can have mass infection in no time. He is a great partner to Illexia. Either you can let him activate hive and allow Illexia's counters to be used for your mandiblor count, or use Elna for hive, keep Makrabon for mugic like adaptive progression or choral of the apparition, and use Illexia for the mandiblor count. I'm currently running a pretty sweet infection deck using the latter combination, and he works a treat.

So here's to Makrabon, he's versatile, he's deadly, and best of all he's just a common! Hats off to one of the best controllers out there, and most controllers are to do with infecting (Dubin, Yondaf, Makrabon) so this guy is no exception.

Assimilated Articles: Kolmo

Time for the second Assimilated Article! Kolmo!

Kolmo is the second Assimilated creature to be featured in Silent Sands, and he fills the "scout" role of the Assimilates. First off, he is a mandiblor, like all of the Assimilates, which makes him handy for hive decks right away. Second, he is the only danian to have invisibility. Surprise is good, granting him immediate Initiative in any location against a non-invisible foe, and his second ability is a reverse of the old kolmo's power. Where the old one got strike 20 against danian nobles, This one has strike 20 against Mipedian Royals. So most royals have invisibility themselves, which means it is negated instead of him gaining strike 20. This guy is great for shutting down cards like Iflar the Crown Prince, and when he goes up against cards like Owayki or Marquis Darini, he gets the strike. All in all, these two abilities are pretty sweet.
However, since he is a scout more or less, the mipedian version had range and swift 1, I believe, but not many danians have that jumper ability. Daj Huun is one of the few that comes to mind. Since danians have a better muge lineup than a scout lineup, he got this relocate ability for one mugic. It's awesome that he has a counter which you can use for mugic, but if there is a spot next to their muges, let him jump over there in a heart beat. The great thing is he can still move from that spot, so it's a lot like being able to move twice in one turn. However, as far as I know, that ability is still bugged in the pad...
After that, we can see he has the Earth element, which is always useful, and it goes great with what is almost his signature gear, the DoomHammer. If you can't get Hammerdoom, this guy works just fine with it, adding earth 5 to his earth. Lastly, he has killer stats. Mine has max courage and max energy, which is probably why I like this dude so much. Going as high as 85 courage, 80 power, 40 wisdom, 70 speed and 65 energy if all are maxxed, this guy is a force to be reckoned with. One of the first real, solid combatants that the danians were graced with, and remains useful today. Some great match-ups with him are Enlightened Tenacity, DoomHammer, Or the stingblade, Oipont's lookout and thundershout. Danian of the Week: Yondaf

So it's Wednesday again, which means another danian of the week!

If you saw ReiHaku's video on the deck of the month for February, you'd see his Fliandar deck, using Yondaf. In the video, he mentioned Armament Adagio - An awesome mugic for Yondaf, because it's two infection for one counter, which is almost impossible to do any other way. Yondaf himself has a counter, so right there you can do two things at once - Burn and infect. Now most danian mugic either targets your own creature (Like song of mandiblor, draining dirge, unisong) or doesn't target any creature specifically at all (katharaz's composition) but some old favourites like Song of Symmetry can be really effective. Gain 10, deal 10, infect. It's all about doing two things at once with Yondaf. If you are packing a heptadd's crown, or if you are in a mixed deck, it can be handy to use other tribal mugic, like rhyme of the reckless (which targets a creature and an attack) or canon of casualty.
Also, Yondaf has two elements, including one (fire) which is not all too popular in the danian tribe, so he would go well in a mixed deck, with cards like loderool, kamangareth UA, and Vunhra. However with low stats and a minimum of thirty energy, he's clearly not a combatant.

So that was this week's Danian! Yondaf, the infectious controller!

Branching out, Yterio

Assimilated articles is a series of articles that will only have three posts to it, of course, but this is a new set called "Branching out" which I told you about in the "What's Coming" article. Branching out is all about helping players who aren't using pure decks to cope in the camaraderie of mixed armies, without relying on those old favourites we danian players have come to depend on so much. Nimmei, Hiadrom, Illexia, Swarming Destruction, and so many others. This is all about other cards who can be used well with danians, so let's begin. And no, I won't just be naming off the forged unity cards like majjcan and kamangareth. I'll try to give some creative ideas of mine :)

This guy happens to be my favourite mipedian, and he can work great in Danian decks, since he is a fairly high end super (from the second latest set) and not loyal. A great guy to pair him with is Gorram. You can get air 5 whenever you feel like it, instead of waiting for your opponent to go after him. And of course, negate an attack while your at it. Imagine your creature can't survive another attack, and might not beat the opponent in another turn. Well sac this guy, stop the attack, and power up your next move for a guaranteed K.O Plus, he has a counter, so use melody of mirage and get rid of two attacks for the price of one creature! Or even three, with a Mipedian Balladeer's flute! He goes great with other danian negation like Adaptive Progression. My personal favourite combination is sacrificing his flute, then using Iflar's Improv. Strike 30, and he can stop an attack, and in a gorram army, give your creatures air 5. Now that's definitely worth it :)

Assimilated Articles: Raznus

I'm starting a series of articles, each one revolving around an assimilated creature, since they are so very popular. Raznus here is the "muge" role of the assimilates.
Once the Overworld ambassador to the danians, Raznus was, ahem, "persuaded" to join the danian tribe in Zenith of the Hive, when infection came out. By the time Silent Sands was in stores, Raznus was a card-carrying, mandibled, bugged-up danian.

But enough of the aesthetics, let's start the review. First of all, like all of the assimilates, he is a mandiblor, which is really handy. Second, he has the water element, which is very popular - also good, although his stats mean he isn't really prime for battle. Wisdom is his only advantage, whereas most danians prefer to rely on courage. His mugic counter is nice, but the most notable thing about this guy, of course, is his ability.

The danian answer to song of shelter. A universal song of shelter, in fact, if you have a pure danian deck. I think he might appreciate in value with mipedian balladeer's flute today. A great muge if used right, and the first of the Assimilates to be reviewed!

Danian of the week

Alright, this week, it's Ode to Obscurity

Now, I know it's not a creature, but if you read the last "What's Coming" I was planning to do an article on this anyway, and figured I could make it a danian of the week and hit two dractyls with one pebblestorm :P
Anyway, this is one of the most versatile infection mugics I can think of. First off, I love my infection :D In any shape or form, if it assimilates, I like it. I'm glad they brought this card in, as it makes up for the lurch that's left when you try infection in a mixed army. Mixed army infection, for the benefit of cards like Vunhra, often means you need to cut out one of the typical infectors, such as Tabaal. Right there, that's an easy two infection gone. So I assume Ode to Obscurity was made to make up for this gap, and boy am I grateful. But Mixed Armies aren't it's only use. Of course, you could use general's standard or northrange to act like you have non danians, but I don't like that idea. It seems unfair, like we are taking all the benefits from forged unity without actually filling our part of the bargain and mixing the tribes. But even so, let's look at the good this card can do in pure danian decks.

A one cost, one infection mugic. Sometimes you want to infect just one creature, not two, and since Infectious Melody has to be a cost of two, you may not want (or be able to) go the extra mile. Melody of Infectious Mayhem works, but that's only when they are engaged, so cards like Wamma Hive Ordnance won't work. So with this, you can spend one, infect one.
A third infectious melody. Run out of room for infection? Don't want to use Tabaal instead of a somewhat meatier creature with two MC? You can use this as a third infectious melody if need demands it.

And of course, in mixed decks, it's a two-fer. Spend one, infect two. Spend two, infect four. Spend 3, infect your entire opposition! If you want to really go mad, max out and spend all 6 (if your mixed deck includes a fluidmorpher) and infect every creature on the board! An incredibly valuable card for infection.

Danian of The Week

This week's danian is Wamma, Hive Ordnance

The danian tribe's first remake, we met him first in Dawn of Perim: Secrets, then again in M'arillian Invasion: Rise of the Oligarch.
Now Wamma is a favourite strategy to be used with my favourite mechanic of the danian tribe - Infection. Yes, I am notorious for abusing compost, but in fact I prefer Infection. Creative use of Vunhra and Wamma H O is more fun to me than stacking up Neekwins and Ivelaans. Wamma is our number one weapon against kha'rall. Infection and a gear grind costs them 25 energy, an element, and defender, or even more if it is the Tidal Crest or Shard of Solitude. Not only that, Wamma can shut down Stone Mails, kha'rall husk armours, and with the help of gear grinds, balladeer flutes, heptadd's crown. Admittedly, his first ability isn't as often used as his latter, unless you are running Ramarhvir or choral of the app, but he is very useful all in all as a means of shutting down battlegear. Of the four contributing factors in a chaotic match, Mugic, Location, Attacks and Battlegear (besides creature of course) Battlegear is probably more intertwined with the strategy than any other.

Here is a small deck I put together for the occasion! Now, I don't have all the cards (yet) I am just missing majjcan and some of the attacks. Thanks go to kerberos for inspiring the idea.

Menaces to Compost!

So this article is revolving around the newest addition to danian strategies, our good friend, compost.

Compost is a fragile thing, as I'm sure many compost-users have found out the hard way (myself included). You think you are doing great, and suddenly they whip out a gravel grind, or a Lore's Chamber. Now your big bad drazz is just a bug again, and their mipedian strikers/Overworld Elementalists/Underworld Warriors/M'arillian Kha'rall are ganging up on your last hope.

So how does this always happen? If you ask me, it's outrageous that the entire compost strategy can be easily taken apart. It's not like forest of life during Aichlyss, which only stops invisibility for one turn (if even, now that the headmaster is around) Lore's chamber or forgotten origins or the like stops compost for the entire match! And it's not a strain on the opponent to shut down your whole strategy, all they need to do is stick a location in their deck and they probably never notice it again.
Plus, there's no way for us to combat it - Or is there?

I could sit around here ranting all day, or try to find a way to fight off this seemingly untouchable menace to our decks. So here is what I often employ to stop anti-compost decks.

Lore's Chmaber is the most common and most devastating card that shuts down compost. So how do we stop a location? Notes of Neverwhere won't do it in time, you can't refrain a Location. The answer is not to stop the effect, but control it.

Futuresight is a really underestimated card. Sure, it's outdated, but it is one of the only cards (I think Fla'gamp is the other) that can alter your opponents locations and not just your own. If you bring two of these, (which I have done) you can look at the top four cards of the location deck. When you do, if you come across Lore's Chamber, put it on the top. Yep, the top. If it comes too early, your compost won't be in the discard pile, and they'll be safe and sound. If it doesn't come up in the top four, it's bound to come up in a turn or two, and by then it will still be too early. This isn't 100%, but it usually works for me :)

Gravel grind is a forged unity card that is quite adept at bringing down compost whilst dealing damage. It only removes one, but this can often be enough. Removing one card can ruin your chances of activating hive, or plummet your stats and energy to their original levels. Stopping this is easier than the previous solution, however.

I've always said that Adaptive Progression is really a blessing for danians. Have you noticed the way danians are working toward an anti-elemental feel, like Underworld? Think about it: Chaac, Vilrik Landfarer, Katharaz's Cacophony, Adaptive Progression. Anyway, this card is great because it negates the full attack. No damage, no effect, no gravel grind.
And even if they don't have gravel grind, it never hurts to have this beauty in your deck.

Void dirge and Forgotten Origins, more compost killers. How to fight these mugic? Cadence clash will only postpone the inevitable, as they can probably just cast it next turn. They are generic, so Rerain of Denial OW/UW wont work.

Get a Heptadd's crown on illexia, and casting this mugic is easy. Since when has 2 cost hurt danians? Pheh, Mahhrant, illexia, Necrabe, Lore AC, makrabon.. Getting mugic is easy for these guys. However, a cheaper alternative is Refrain of Denial OW, it dispels an overworld or generic mugic for one MC. It will stop forgotten origins and void dirge, as well as any OW mugic that might give you trouble.

So I hoped this article helped to give any compost users a fighting chance. Thanks for reading!

Forged Review Continued: Danian Allies

As forged unity progressed, each tribe gained one "Helps this tribe" creature and two "is helped by this tribe" creatures. For example, Glapaal Helps mipedians, Masilbaat and Klencka are helped by overworlders and underworlders. I'm going to take a look at the other creatures who help and are helped by danians.

First up, Majjcan.

In kerberos' new blog (there is a link to it over on the right) he features Majjcan in a deck of his, with this mipedians Best buddy, glapaal. Glapaal and Majjcan make a really sweet combo. Mipedians are known for their ability to stack up element 5's and outperform's and creating massive attacks (Can anyone say Noaz and symphony of the guard?), so it stands to reason that Danians, a more support oriented tribe, could work well with this guy who gets his attacks powered up. I would put him with someone like Glapaal or Vunhra, and another earthy mipedian like Rasbma Darini. Also, he has decent to good speed and courage, which goes great with danians and attacks like braveglint.

Combat,
Individuality: 5
Support: 2 (if you can get defender for him)
Versatility: 7

Overall: I'll give this guy a good 7

Next up, Kamangareth Unstable Ally

I'd like to say she would work well with Masilbaat, but not really. Masilbaat's ability just isn't practical. Once again, Vunhra (a very versatile creature) or Gorram would go great with her, keep them in the back, then give your creatures something like Ozlai's wreck or Vial of Liquid Thought. Shame that she's unique, though. I mean, you could just give your creatures AA: Might and save the trouble of having to get them unequipped and it's the same really. But then you wouldn't have to include a danian, and everyone wants to include a danian, right guys? Right? Right?!
Err.. Yeah, anyway, it'd be best ot put her up with creatures who benefit from having no battlegear. Ilx, Vunhra, and Ozlai's wreck can be killer. Yes, I know, I should stop saying vunhra xD I would say put her with Neekwin, but he doesn't have very high power...

Support/combat,

Versatility: 5
Overall: I'd say around a 6

Last up, is Hune Marquard, Brainwashed Scholar

Just as an anecdote, this was the first Forged Unity card I ever pulled :D

So basically, he is like a Raznus Ambassador to the Danians without his fireproof or elements. But he is also a lot cheaper on the rarity scale. I'd be more fearful of his brainwashed side than thankful for his non-brainwashed side, to be honest, because he could shut down Wamma Hive Ordnance, which is perfect for stopping Kha'rall decks. Still, he lets you totally swap out danian mugic for some OW mugic like hymn of the elements, rhyme of the reckless, dissonance of will, etc., He can be lethal in the right hands.

Laaaaaate Danian of the week...

This time round, it's Klencka Avenger! One of the more popular cards from forged unity this set, Klencka is equipped with some of the finest danian attributes one could hope fr. The staple Earth/Water elements, through-the-roof courage, and a great energy-gaining ability.

A great combo is using this guy with Blugon Winter Warrior and Iflar's Improvisation. If you are in a tight spot, you can give him invisibility strike 30, then make any attack of his count as the first attack this combat. Say, ohh, a popular danian attack - Ice Disks, with iflar's improv on what Blugy made be the first attack this combat - 60 damage, 60 heal - Not bad, ne?

Another interesting thing about this guy, is that he is a redux. If I may bring your thoughts back to the Rise of the Oligarch, we can see Klencka in another light.

As you can see, he looks quite different, has different elements, and is less courageous, weaker, dumber, but faster. But what I think is most interesting is, here, he is a minion, but the modern klencka we all know and love is not. This means he resisted the M'arillian mind control, and is the only creature (besides Maybe Tartarek Psi, to a certain extent) we know for sure has done so so far! I'm guessing since he works with underworlders, they used the minion's freesong mugic, but his abilities here are quite different. Waterproof 10, outperform courage 5 in Hive, and no hive needed in BW text. He has neekwin's elements, and sadly doesn't measure up to his Forged Unity counterpart at all.

Hi guys! Sorry for not being here for such a long time. I am now going to reveiw the new Danian Mugic cards! (Yeah, I know there are only two, but still, they rock!)

Okay, first of all, we have my favorite mugic of all time: Ode to Obscurity! Just the name makes enemies tingle with fear! I have made a deck focused around this card! Check out my army build of "True to Tangath!" http://community.chaoticgame.com/forum/Topic1407322-34-1.aspx?Update=1 Feel free to comment on it! :)

This mugic has more possibilities than any other mugic I have seen. My deck has Xelfe, equipped with Muges Tuning Fork, allowing him to infect 6 Creatures! Then, Vunhra (My new favorite creature, I am going to change my avatar into him!) Makes your creatures deal an additional 5 attack damage each attack! How do you them apples?

For solid awesomeness: 9.5

Next on the listis Adaptive Progression! This Mugic either kills that oppenet, or just wastes space in your Mugic Hand. Most people use powerful elemental attacks, but with the new set, many will go to stat decks. Supercooled rain is worthless angainst this card, making the oppenet just waste 5 buildpoints!

I give it a: 7.5

Glapaal

Alright, he's fairly good. He's got your typical danian heal n' deal, but it works for mipedians. Majjcan, a new mipedian who gets earth 5 from danians is a good choice for him. Two mugic, meh stats, good support creature all in all.

Uncommon

Masilbaat is truly unique at manipulating damage. Overworlders and mipedians are masters of reducing or negating damage, but only Masilbaat can actually turn it into healing mugic! Can't decide whether to bring canon of casualty or song of resurgence? Take one, as a two-fer! Not only that, in makes your opponents mugic turn into healing mugic to Masilbaat - it's a whole new crime to not read the effect right. Earth and fire, like makanaz, a mugician which is a nice touch, 70 courage and not too bad energy.. His downside is that he isn't a mandiblor.

Whoa, I went a bit overboard cropping this one, anyway, 90 courage, earth and water, mandiblor warrior... Textbook danian, surely this uncommon can't get any better! Oh, but it can, and does! So say you have the ideal deck, and blugon winter warrior is in the deck. Sacrifice two balladeer's flutes, and Blugon has four counters. Now give Klencka the vial of liquid thought. With Ice disks, he can now gain and deal 60 energy/damage in just two measly turns! When used right, he is a force to be reckoned with, and there are a bunch of ways to exploit him! Truly one of the best danian treasures to come out in this set.

Rare

Kepiaan is undeniably the picture perfect lieutenant when you consider what their jobs are. Ultimately versatile, all around good, balanced, ability - Oh, and special thanks to Rooster5Man for getting him for me ^^ My first ever Forged Unity Danian! Kepiaan works great, because his stats are all even, so he works well in any deck, and he has water, a pretty common element in the danian tribe. He can have 80 energy and 80 in each discipline if you "Play your cards right" This guy is great for any mixed deck, particularly if you have cards like Vidav and General's Standard.

Super Rare

This isn't Gorram's first visit here to The Danian Hall, and I shouldn't really review him twice, but things change seeing these new cards. So finally, all of those other tribes are good for something. Yes, even Underworld (bwahaha, no offense, UW fans, I like the tribe a lot :D) What are they good for, you may ask? Cannon fodder. Put this guy with Majjcan and another mipedian, and some mugic or battlegear, he'll have air and earth 10/15 in no time. Gorram's usefulness is endless and works in a lot of decks, just not with Kepiaan sadly, or any cards that need your other tribes to stay alive. Faash and some weak overworlders, plus Elna works great.
I've said it before, I said it again, I'll say it once more - A truly great card, we couldn't ask for a better general. He took an original spin on the compost mechanic, and boosted danian elementalists, who, by the way, are getting stronger by the minute!

You know, I don't want to be giving everyone good reviews or it'll look like I am a poor critic... And I'm not, I love to point out flaws in things, but I have my work cut out for me in this set. So here is Vunhra, and if I absolutely had to pick on someone it might be him. I wish we could just switch around the texts, and have the infected one be brainwashed, and let regular danian Vunhra be anti-m'arillian. Oh well. Give your main fighters danian carapace, and give him infectious melody for his counters, and you have a whole army of Agrino Jaldars. His stats are meh, high wisdom but with low courage, power and speed, his earth element is lack-luster. Not at all a bad card though, what's funny about him is that he introduces a brand new concept - Mixed Infection! I've never seen a mixed deck/infection deck before, so it'll be a first.

Now for the card I've been waiting to review..

The moment I saw him on eBay, I wanted to go and find whoever designed him and hug them. The ultimate composter. I really hoped that Gorram wouldn't be the be-all end-all creature for compost, and they gave us this guy. Amazing, simply amazing. First off, 65 energy, 85 courage, earth element, one mugician, so even as a creature alone he's not too bad. But once he hits your discard pile, it's unlimited hive! Intense Polyphonies are gone and your illexia just got hit with the second supercooled rain. No more Hive for you! Oh, wait, Elna gets coded! Just think of all of those wonderful cards that will have their full potential tapped into via Elna. My favourite combo would be stingblade, so that it's effect basically becomes "The first attack each turn deals 10 damage instead of it's normal damage." So bye-bye mipedians with surprise! He can go in almost any danian deck, it doesn't have to be compost at all! In fact, he even goes well in danian mix decks.

Ultra Rare

Here he is, the moment we have all been waiting for. I think Elna, Gorram, Klencka, Kepiaan, are all awesome cards, but nothing beats a good old Dawn of Perim revisited, and honestly, I don't think any danian fan could resist good old Lore. He's been our friend and ally for a long time, that one ace in the hole who's sheer versatile damage draining powers were the envy of tribe and tribe alike. Many danian players relied on him early on in the metagame, and of course, he was never forgotten. I think we were all delighted upon seeing that he was the new Loyal Ultra Rare for the tribe. (BuzzerJr in particular XD)

And what an ultra rare he is! Y'know that Glost deck that's been keeping you down? Hate it when you have to beat Chaor twice in a row thanks to song of revival? Does it annoy when another compost deck comes along and gets all up in the face of your own deck? Well now Lore is here to save the day! Glost is just a weak little puppy, when Chaor goes down he stays down and compost is for your use alone. And that's just one of his abilities! And his stats aren't great, except for 100 COURAGE :D That's shockingly good! Picture this: You've beaten all of his creatures, and only FTH remains! He makes a comeback and fights back, all the way down to lore! But you've been saving up and you have... 8 counters! You can do the most epic heal n' deal in danian history - 40 damage, 40 energy healed! Who could resist? He was the perfect end to a set that did all but disappoint danian fans!

It has recently occured to me that for the TOTT edition with so many mandiblors that this is great for us dannian players, so here are a few tips, when using, well frankly any creature other than a mandiblor, whether dannian or not, something helpful is to give them a "Mandiblor Crown" giving them the title mandiblor, and thus be able to get in on any compost ability your dannians may have.

Also here is a deck that may help you out, that srongly uses the compost ability

Odu'Bathax with the mandiblor crown, Kritlaan, and Makanaz(2) are the most important cards for this deck, because by the time your oponent gets to Odu'Bathax if his scannd energy is, say, 25 if everyone else is destroyed, then he will have plus 50 energy, and for me I put Ivelaan(2) is so the deck can be filled with many stat based attack cards, this deck will continue in strength through out the battle each time a card is lost, but as all compost decks Void Dirge can really mess this one up so be careful when facing someone who knows you to be a dannian player, hope these tips help, enjoy.

Alright, in the last article I spoke about Gorram, so whilst in school I decided to put together a rough army for him. This is obviously without the awesome new cards Forged will bring us, and I couldn't look up all of the attacks when I put it together so it might not be top notch. I'd value all input. There might also be some problems with mugic, wasn't sure how much counters the creatures had... anyway, here it is.

Okay, so this is just to utilise all of Gorram's abilities. It's more practical to just use One or Two tribes, but this is just a field test.

So Issaley has that Balladeer's flute instead of the obvious Torrent Krinth, because we're short on MC here. Give the counter to Neekwin. Neekwin is in there not so much to fight but to give Faash and Gorram air. Gorram might not keep up long, but Katharaz's Cacophony can make up for his poor energy. If he does get coded, Neekwin can have fire 10, water 5 and air 5 if you get the compost out, water 10 if you use the Reservoir or Skeletal springs. Perplexing heat with fire and water 10 can do some serious damage. So instead of letting Neekwin sacrifice his battlegear for water, 5 D-Zooka gives him fire and fire 5.

But the thing is, the battle won't get that extreme all the time. Intense Polyphony can help give Faash fire 10, and you can probably get it for the 0 cost fairly easily. Then again, Brimflame and Issaley aren't pushovers and Saand can quite easily get air 10 so the chances are they can take out the bulk of your opponent before they need to get Gorram'ed.

Some alternatives:

Defenders can be helpful because, as with all compost decks, timing is integral - Even moreso here with cards like elementalist pauldrons and Danian elemental choral. Bronzeflight and Defender's Song are useful. Mipedim Mirage also works for this.

If you don't want to commit to a third element, swap Plasmarrows for Flaming Coals and the other air attacks for more water attacks. Then you can take out Saand and put in Ivelaan - a good composter and water attacker who can help your Neekwin. You may want to remove Faash and add another Neekwin with pauldrons in this case, so more than one creature gets the boost.

Gorram!

The Danian General

I don't know about anyone else, but I think the Compost mechanic is a pretty awesome intro to Chaotic. It has more or less only 3 cards that can be indisputably assigned to it, and they haven't been out 2 months yet, but already they took the metagame by storm. So far, every danian deck I have faced in the past month (and that's not very many..) has used compost. It really made the danian armies more popular.

Now TCDOP has released two of the four new generals, and here is ours, Gorram. Come to bring new meaning to the word "compost".

When I saw Gorram, I felt a little tingling in my spine. "My spidey- er, anty sense is tingling!" I yelled, much to the confusion of those around me who weren't look at my laptop screen. I never found a strategy in chaotic that suited my style quite like Compost has (and I like to think my deck is a tad different to the more typical generic compost ones) so naturally, seeing a compost danian in the big league rarities was too exciting for me. As I described previously, he is "The Chaor to my Kaz" - I can't wait to get him.

I don't have an army build yet, but will soon enough. For now, here are some comments on him, and points to remember.

Finally, those other tribes are good for something, even if that something is filling up your discard pile. What else would you need? Now, I know what you are thinking.. "But we hardly ever use fire, only sometimes use air and have plenty of other ways to get water 5! What's the big deal?" Well, Gorram will most likely be used with Elementalist Pauldrons - Keep him in position 4 or 5, so he can still do some battling and get some elements from your other creatures before they are chucked in the discard nonchalatly. Faash is a good sidekick to him, also with elementalist pauldrons, and easily gets another fire 5. Neekwin in the back. Up front, an overworlder, an underworlder and a mipedian, I'm sure good cards for this slot will come up in Forged Unity. So Faash will have air, water, fire, fire 10, air and water 5. Neekwin will have water 10 once you use his ability, and air 5. Gorram will have all 3 and element 5 in all of them. This means you can mix air and water attacks (Hail storm, winter claw) and water, fire attacks (Perplexing heat, flaming coals) with anything else you want.
Unusually, Earth may not be one of the primary elements for a Gorram deck. You can always swap the Faash I showed above for a member of another tribe or an earth user.
Gorram has good courage like most danians, so even if you have a lot of nice elementalist attacks, don't be afraid to throw in some challenges too.
Gorram's energy is low, so don't use him as your main fighter. To raise his energy, try Domestic Hive Hymn or Song of Symmetry
Obviously Gorram likes mixed decks, so be sure you are ready to give up Illexia, Swarming Destruction, Hiadrom, Nimmei and more before you commit to the new set's style of play.
An old forgotten card has a chance to come back now. Ambassador Raznus can let you get all the benefits of Overworld Mugic before he enters your discard pile.
Don't be afraid to fully embrace the other tribes. One creature has invisibility, the other has healing powers, the other has intimidate... Mix it up a bit before your non-danians expire!
Remember, this is opening up a whole new world of elementalism (is that a word? o.O) to the danian tribe. Eat that, Overworld! Haha, just kidding, but now the bugs are real contenders for elemental armies. Just watch out for Xis'torq!
Don't forget, he is only a super, not even ultra, so he won't be too elusive!

Hi this week I will talk about Neekwin. He is a Mandiblor and an Elementalist. If you can get his gear sacrificed you are golden because then he gets Untargetable and Water 5. With two elements Air and Water he is awsome with attacks like winter claw or icedisc's. An easy way to get his gear of is Vial of liquid thought. You get an attack back and you get his abilities activated. A good idea is to have 2 Makanaz's and 2 Ivelaan's to suport him. With stats and energy like that you cant loose.

Dannian Compost

It's finally here, the compost ability with turn of the tide, I've faced many players, notably BuzzerJr.(fameous dannian player of which posts about how unbeatable he is have started) and it is totally EPIC, the compost ability to raise energy stats and grant abilities like (outpreform courage 50 is awsome, and is practically unstopable in AdvanceAprentice battles.

But here's the thing, this now puts the mujic card Void Dirge of common rarity(most basic rarity in the game) to a major advantage, Void Dirge allows you to remove 3 target cards out of your opponents discard pile, thus eliminating the powers that your team would gain from compost, so I'm just wondering if there will be some remakes of Void Dirge that are more powerful and remove more cards, or maybe an ultimate form of it that makes your oppoents cards go directly out of gameplay, this would be the end of most compost decks, but until then, the vaslue of Void Dirge has skyrocketed and is now part of many master decks for fear that their next opponent in a masters game will be a dannian composter. :) Dannians Rule, but it also comes to mind, that if such abilities can be granted to Dannians through the grave, will zombie dannians come into being?

EX: The card will be two sided, when the card is defeated it goes to the general discard pile, but if it is brought back, as some cards abilities allow cards in the general discard pile do, it will come back zombified, have incredibly low energy and wisdom, but gain MASSSSSIVE amounts of energy from Hive, that would be awsome, would it not?

Danian Government

Form of Government

Danians have a very structured society with a definite caste system. Mandiblors are the lowest and do duty as guards, workers and soldiers. These are overseen by their squadleaders. Above them, acting as unit leaders are Danian Battlemasters, who also can act more independantly than the units of Mandiblors. Much like an ant colony the majority of Danians are male "drones" and their society is matriarchal, the head female being their queen. Acting outside the usual structure of the Danian hive are their muges and warriors.

Danian MandiblorsThe lowest rank in Danian Society, Mandiblors get the worst Jobs. From the drudgery of maintianing Mount Pillar and its resevior of water, to any and all tasks of the lowly foot soldier. Mandiblors strength is in their numbers and almost any Danian army is going to have a large ammount of them. Illexia's guard is made up of an elite type of winged flying mandiblor.

' Appearance'

Typically mandiblors are of red coloration, with green or gold markings typical. They all have the same body structure being quadrupedal and two manipulative arms, largely ant-like in appearance. Flying mandiblors typically have translucent blue wings.

' Gameplay'

Many of the Hive abilities that the units of a Danian army will have are dependant upon the numbers of mandiblors in the army. Consequently this makes Danaian armies stronger the larger they are and makes them tougher opponents in 6 vs 6 matches or more. To make the Hive contribution significant the army will need 3 or 4 mandiblors.

Danian SquadleadersSquadleaders command small units of mandiblors and are drawn from their ranks. Mandiblors showing promise of leadership abilities may be promoted. They are typically given one or more squads to command in battle.

' Appearance'

Because they are drawn from the ranks, most squadleaders are similar in appearance to the mandiblors they lead. This may make it dificult to specifically target them.

' Gameplay'

Typically a squadleader will have the ability to activate Hive, usually by the use of mugic. They do not count as mandiblors though, so you'll usually limit your army to one which you can protect in your second line in a 6 vs 6 match.

Danian BattlemastersDanians with an special aptitude for strategy may be placed above their brethren to the rank of Battlemaster. When a mandiblor is born it may be marked as such. They usually have ability to enhance the mandiblors under their command.

' Appearance'

Battlemasters appear different than mandiblors despite coming from the same stock. Often their color sets them apart and they will usually take to walking bipedal, leaving four limbs for manipulation.

' Gameplay'

Battlemasters usually have abilities to enhance the mandiblors under their command or sometimes bring them back from the dead (otherwise known as the discard pile). Combatively they are usually weak, so should be protected in the back rows.

Danian NoblesThe next rank up in Danian society generally lead large units of Danian forces into battle. Nobles are far more independant than their bretheren in the lower ranks and display a wider range of personality. As such they inspire fear both into their enemies and the Danians they command. The nobles are generally subordinate only to the Queen, but vy amongst themselves for personal power.

' Appearance'

Danian Nobles are notable for their grey to black bodies with greater protection than mandiblors, with red and black marked limbs. They are also marked by their green mandibles and more ferocious faces. Nobles also have an extra set of limbs than the lower ranks of Danians walking on four, with four manipulative arms. Some may also have wings similar to the winged mandiblors.

' Gameplay'

A Danian Noble will usually be a Danian army's "*** unit" when hive is activated they can be unusually tough, if they're backed up by enough mandiblors. You'll usually want to place this unit front and center.

Controllers - Danian Controllers tend to be special creatures who never had much of an aptitude for battle. From the moment their training began, they had neither skills as a warrior, muge, or mandiblor. Nor did they lead like a squadleader should. Instead they lead their mandiblors from behind the scenes, creating great strategies, and in charge of the infection plan. They are of relatively high rank and usually are in control of many underlings.

"Appearance"

Controllers have no set physical appearance, but tend to look vicious and menacing, their body shapes suiting whatever their needs are. They may be slender and bipedal, or Mandiblor-Skeleton and menacing. They use it to either give co-ercion and commands or to inject parasites unnoticed

"Gameplay"

Usually dealing in mugic, Controllers aren't the type you want to put up front. They should stay in the back, and use their ability to activate hive, or infect by means of mugic. Often getting a power boost from infecting other creatures, they operate unseen and slowly. Their abilities can be used to power up your Battlemasters or Nobles by giving them more mandiblors or simply using their mugic skilfully. They often rely mainly on wisdom, or in synchronization with the majority of the danian tribe, their courage.

Danian Muges, Warriors and Elementalists Any of the ranks whom show especial aptitude in a particular area may be taken aside to be trained further. They may come from any stock, and usually retain their base designation. In combat they may be attatched to units of Danians to provide support, or have very specific functions. For example Odu-Bathax's prime job is guarding the North gate to mount pillar.

Now, tell me you don't like this big bulk of musceles! He is beyond amazing in any Danian deck! With stats like those and the Energy, plus his effect, running two of these guys means doom for any oppenet! :)

Some cards not directly relating to Danians but might come in handy.

Now this is a nice card. Danian Courage can typically reach the qualifications needed for this particular Battlegear. Nimmei or Irrabeq can easily gain a full 20 energy boost! A nice and easy-to-acquire card if you're stuck for any other good BG

Definitely a card to include in a Danian Infection deck. Not much on it's own, but if you put it in the right context it can reach up to twenty or so damage. Imagine this: Jaal using this on an infected Underworlder in the Infectorium with a vlaric shard. That's up to 40 damage, if done right.

This Location is a funny one. It clearly has a danian theme, but it's possibly the worst location for the new Danians! Bye-bye to all of your compost! Still, it's mirage ability is more or less made for Lore, who's energy ranges from 20 to 30.

Favorite Dannian Mujic

Hello there I'm SirNainad, a fellow dannian fan, and now an author *evil laugh*, just thought I'd say hi.

Anyway I suppose this topic, being my first shall start out simple, and as the titale suggests, dannian mujic, my two personal favorites are "song of symetry" and "mindproof march"

Mind Proof March being at the higher end because it has the potencial to do awsome damage and heal at the same time, and song of symetry is just fun to whip out as a good way to even out a close match and get you the evening blow or get a 10 pt energy boost while doing 10 pt of damage on energy.

Yes, thats right, the old home of the UnderWorlders under the control of one of the deadlyist traitors is actualy great for the Danians! Think about it, Irrabeq with Ivelaan and an Elehaad in the discard pile spells doom for your oppenet! :)

This card also is easy to aquire and good in other scenarios! Rate out of 10!

Unisung is an enteresting card. It gives you 10 energy (gain not heal) and 10 courage for each Danian you control is hive is active. Imagine a Danian courage deck, this would go good in it!

Turn of the Tide: Review 1 - Danian Creatures

The first review section for Turn of the Tide. We will be looking at the danians in detail, in their creatures, battlegear, mugic, and possibly attacks and locations.
I won't do Topar, because he's had enough attention over him recently :P

No since I don't want to blatantly copy off of the rating system of other blogs, I'll be using a different one.

So with off-the-charts courage and excellent speed and wisdom (not usual for a danian) I'm not sure where Elhadd does better, the discard pile or the battle board. Now any and all danian armies I've made have used courage as a huge asset, so it shouldn't be too hard to implement his Outperform Courage 5, if your opponent gets a chance to put him in the discard pile, that is!

Stamina: (how will he hold up in a battle) 7/10

Support: (how he will help other creatures) 8/10

Practicality: (he might look nice, but would you put him in your deck?) 7/10

Now for Hiadrom. Now we knew about him before the release yesterday, and he is, in my opinion, a great addition to the danian ranks. Not a minion (which is just something I hate to have in my army) adds to your mandiblor count, he has earth and water plus a fairly high courage stat. Best of all, his hive ability kicks tail, and the cherry on top, he has a mugician.

Stamina: 7/10, due to his hive ability

Support: 3/10 since he is a manciblor

Practicality: 6/10

Here's Ivelaan, another Compost danian. Gotta love the Compost. As you can plainly see, danians seem to have gotten a speed boost here, as well as keeping up their courage streak. He has the water element, which long ago stopped being unusual for the bugs. Two mugic counters is a nice surprise, so hopefully you can use 'em before he gets thrown into the discard pile, giving all of your mandiblors 25 to each discipline! Remember, this includes creatures like Irrabeq, and since most danian decks run a lot of mandiblors, think of it like a dozen compositions of concetration thrown onto your army! Nice. Note the high energy too.

Stamina: 7/10

Support: 8/10

Practicality: 7/10

This here is Makanaz, someone who looks suspiciously like Odu-Bathax's brother...Or cousin... Or maybe Odu-bathax's exoskeleton's colour ran in the wash, who knows? With a courage and speed of 75, plus a whooping power of 90, this mandiblor warrior is a force to be reckoned with. Boasting 65 energy, fire and earth, plus a mean compost effect, he's formidable even without mugic counters. Call me old-fashioned, but have they raised the bar for what gets to be a common? Let's compare Lhad, an old danian common, with this guy. See a difference? Hehe, anyway.

Stamina: 9/10

Support: 8/10 (15 energy for all of my mandiblors? Ah-yes, please!)
Practicality: 7/10

Now for Neekwin, another runner-up in the Odu-Bathax look-alike contest. Sadly, it's not another compost card, but I think we've had our fill of those anyway. With this guys ability, you won't miss it! So first off, he has pretty high energy again, your standard courage, unusually high wisdom for danians, two elements and a mugician. Because he is an elementalist, he can easily get more elements with the Elementalist Pauldrons. Here's the clincher though: You may not want to have him equipped, since otherwise he is immune from mugic or abilities and his water attacks get pumped up. Give him a nexus fuse or Aqua Shield, better yet, Hive Amber, and he's a force to be reckoned with.

Stamina: 7/10

Support: 3/10

Practicality: 6/10

Now for the Danian Super Rare. No elements, though, again, he has the potential to gain most of them with Elementalist Pauldrons. Yet another Mandiblor Elementalist, this time a minion too.

I'm not so sure about his Brainwash effect, since it's easier to use a move like mirthquake or terraport for that, and it doesn't cost a whole creature! But his main ability is a gem! Such mastery of elements, he can cut down the elemental attacks of others down to size. Not to mention he can do this at a minimum amount of two times, and he doesn't have to be on the receiving end, either, he can do it outside of battle. If I were running an infection deck, I would get a strain of infection for this guy, and watch him bat away plasmarrows and ice disks. Still, this all sounds great but I'm not sure I would use him a lot. His energy and disciplines are pretty low all in all.

Stamina: 5/10

Support: 8/10

Practicality: 6/10

This deck uses a mixtuare of Infection and the Hive. Nimmeis are the main fighters, while topar stops mugic from affecting all your creatures! You can use Tabaal to infect two people, brainwash him, then infect three more (Your whole army)! Topar can then infect one of you oppenet's creatures, then Necrabe two more! That is 8 infections on the first turn, plus future ones with topar! Necrabe stops revival, so that is great! Illexia uses her counters as mandiblors for the Nimmeis, and she can use her flute to give her another. For the Chimgrid, either give it to Illexia or Necrabe, depending on infection. Skeletal Springs stops Fluidmorpers in their tracks, so does markmen's prep. This deck is a solid build, and has many great effects!

The basic build of this deck is for Ramarhvir to take Mugic counters for Mahrrant. If you start off first, use Tabaal to attack. Try to take them down low after using both his mugic to infect. Also, make sure he gets Brainwashed. Then before he dies, use him to sacrifice his Fuse and himself, hopefully K.o.ing your oppenet. When a Irebeq is in the discard pile, use Ramarhvir to bring it back. Hive Unsung allows you to deactivate hive, then activate it again, to give Ramarhvir another counter. Make sure that Irebeq can defend your back creatures at all times. Remeber, with Illexia up front, your oppenet also gains defender. This is one flaw with the deck, but is easily overcome by the fact that no matter who you attack, your oppenet will be lost!

Basic strategy:1) If I get first turn iniative then use song of surprisal and get immediately to a backline creature.
2) If they get the iniative when they attack use as much mugic as needed to win the battle. Then use kolmo's ability or song of surprisal to move kolmo to the empty space to get him to a backline creature.
3) If your opponent destroys one of your frontliners don't worry about your second row. This is why you use as much mugic as early as possible. Simply sacrifice lore or lobanne and bring back your creature to their backline.

I'm just going to give a quick intro to Danians, involving culture, gameplay, background and strategies. I won't go into their government because Buzzer has a top notch article on that already. I'll start simple.

Now, when one hears the word "Teamwork" we generally think of Overworlders with their endless defense and support abilities, but when you think about it, no one does teamwork like Danians. While overworlders need to be beside each other to get teamwork in, Danians can span across the board! Power, speed, wisdom, energy, when hive is activated danians benefit in these traits from every other mandiblor you have. Ah, mandiblors, it's always the little guy who keeps the big bad nobles in shape.

In many danian armies, mandiblors are crucial (I did say I'd start simple). Now this is one reason why I like danians - You can't just throw down some big bad bruisers like Nimmei or Odu-Bathax and boom, there's your army - Trust me, these guys work a lot better with mandiblors around. So the danian mechanic ensures balanced armies.

If someone on the street were come up to you and shout "Danians" you would probably think of one of these two things. "Hive ability" or "Who the heck is that guy and why is he shouting at me?" But let's go with the first one for now. Hive Ability is the great giver of all that is good for the danians. Several creatures (Kannen, Junda, Skartalas) or mugic/attacks (chorus of the hive, call of the hive) and even one location (Mount Pillar) can activate Hive. It's up to the player to decide which one and how. It's also important to regulate your hive, don't boost your Nimmei while fighting a dractyl if your opponent has a maxxor in the back. Wait until you really need it - Hive is precious, and nearly always involves a sacrifice.

The true Zenith of the Hive was the invention of the danians most potent weapon - infection. Like the look of that Gronmor? Then just infect him over to your side! Well, not quite. But you can use your opponent's creatures to your advantage, and really mess with them with cards like Mahrrant or Wamma Hive Ordnance.

Danian Society. Danian society is a rather simple hierarchy, mandiblors at the bottom, queen at the top. However, they are also a collectivist society, meaning they look beyond the needs of the individual, and look at the needs of the group. One mandiblor isn't as important as the survival of the Hive. It's a strong viewpoint, but the danians are all the better for it.

General Gameplay - A few basics on danians. Danians are most skilled with Earth and Water elements, quite a few air users too, and though they are in the minority there is still a fair amount of fire users. Still, most often you will see the Earth or Water element. Danians are renowned for courage, so attacks like Rustoxic and Rip Tide can work great for them. Danians work better in 6v6 and up, I wouldn't advise 3v3 unless you have a good infection to get more mandiblor might, and 1v1 is basically suicidal. If and when 10v10 comes out in the pad (unlikely) that would be ideal.

Well this is a Chaotic strategy blog based solely around everyone's favourite human sized infectious insects, the danians! Yay!
